Funding news!

Today is a great news kinda day ❤️ After a previous failed attempt, I'm excited to say that my latest application for Arts Council funding has been successful. Woohoo! I'm still in shock, but feeling grateful and looking forward to what this means for 2024.

The funding comes from the Arts Council's Develop your Creative Practice scheme (DYCP), which is designed to support artists of all disciplines in their professional and creative development. As a freelancer it can be so difficult to fund things like training, conferences or even just time to play and explore. So this support really means a lot to me and the future of my practice.

Specifically the grant will help fund a process of research, learning and creative experimentation as I work towards my first collection of speculative short fiction. It's an opportunity to properly research, attend relevant events and make space to find my own voice outside of client commissions and collaborations. I'll be exploring themes that are really important to me, including identity, mythmaking and remembrance in a time when digital and bio technologies are reshaping human customs. I'm interested in our newly emerging myths and rituals, the shape of our grief and our memories, and what it means to be human today.

I'd like to share reflections, experiments and learning along the way, so keep an eye on the blog for updates.
